About Dutch Touch Window Cleaning

Where the Name Came From

Before Dutch Touch Window Cleaning was ever a business… it was a nickname.

My parents are both from the Netherlands, so growing up, everyone called my dad “Dutch.” When I started working alongside him, I naturally became “Dutch Jr.”

At 13 years old, I was already washing trucks after school at my dad’s work. By 15, I had moved into detailing full-size diesel rigs, polishing and waxing them for drivers heading out on the road.

And that’s when something stuck.

They would say,
“Good… my truck’s getting the Dutch touch.”

That name stayed with me.

So, when it came time to start our own window cleaning company, there was never a question what it would be called.

It had already been earned.

Built From the Ground Up Since 1989

Dutch Touch Window Cleaning didn’t start in an office… it started with hard work.

From a young age, I learned what it meant to take pride in what you do. Long days, attention to detail, and earning trust through your work.

After high school, everything came together.

My dad was a truck driver. My mom was cleaning houses with her sister. And they both kept saying the same thing…

“The window cleaners never did it right.”

So, my dad said,
“Let’s start our own window cleaning company so we can build something together.”

No investors. No big plan.
Just a decision to do it better.

In 1989, I went door to door with a bucket and a squeegee, building the business one home at a time. My two cousins worked alongside me in those early years helping get things going. One of my cousins runs his own location now in the city of Big Bear.

That’s how Dutch Touch began.

Built By Hand, Built Together

In the early days, we didn’t have systems… we had family.

My dad became the backbone behind the scenes. While I was out building the business, he was fabricating equipment, fixing trucks, and creating whatever we needed to keep things running.

We didn’t even have a shop at first, so he built a mobile setup just to maintain and repair everything on the go.

Everything was hands-on. Everything was earned.

And to this day, at 80 years old, he still enjoys coming in, helping out, and working on the trucks.

That kind of work ethic sticks with you.

A True Family Operation

As the business grew, so did the people behind it.

In the late 90s, my dad left his trucking career, and my mom stepped away from house cleaning so they could both join the business full time.

They relocated to La Quinta, an area we had been working in and one they truly loved.

They weren’t just helping… they were all in.

Working in the field, supporting the business, and doing whatever it took to help us grow. We did this together, yep that blood sweat and tears for sure.

Doing the Work Others Wouldn’t

We built this company by taking on the jobs others avoided.

In places like Lake Arrowhead, we dealt with steep terrain, difficult access, and dangerous ladder setups just to reach the glass.

Instead of backing away, we found solutions.

That’s what led my dad and I to create and patent a ladder safety product designed to prevent slipping and improve stability. This was when we built safety & systems.

It wasn’t invented in a lab… it came from real work, solving real problems every day.

Evolving With Technology

We’ve never stood still.

As the industry evolved, we adopted ultra-pure water systems and water fed pole technology, allowing us to clean windows safely from the ground up to 75′ while often delivering even better results than ever before.

Safer for our team. Better results for our customers. More consistency across every job. And better yet, it made the windows stay cleaner, longer!

Today, we continue to push forward with advanced tools like robotics and drone cleaning systems for large commercial projects, helping reduce costs while improving safety and efficiency.

Built Smarter Over Time

As we grew, we focused on doing things better, not just bigger.

My father-in-law, a contractor and custom car builder, stepped in and helped us design and build our own truck skid systems.

These weren’t off-the-shelf setups.

They were built for speed, durability, and performance, specifically for how we operate.

To this day, every one of our trucks runs that same system.

At 91 years old, he’s still interested in the business and proud of what we’ve built together.

The Backbone of the Business

Behind every successful business is someone making sure it actually runs right.

For us, that’s my wife.

When we got married, she stepped in and took over the financial side of the business & routing.

If I’m being honest… without her, this business wouldn’t have made it.

She helped fix major issues, brought structure, and played a huge role in building the systems we still use today.

While raising our kids and running the office, she still stepped into the field when needed.

That’s the kind of commitment this business was built on.

Tested When It Mattered Most

Not every part of this journey was easy.

In 2015, during one of our busiest seasons, we lost three trucks in separate accidents within two months.

One was completely destroyed in a fire. Two others were totaled in collisions. Thank God everyone was safe.

It would have been easy to slow down.

We didn’t.

We kept showing up.
We kept taking care of our customers.
We figured it out.

That season didn’t break us… it made us stronger.

All Hands On Deck

There were times when we didn’t have enough help.

When that happened, my wife stepped in and worked in the field while still running the office and raising our kids.

Whatever it took… we did it.

Full Circle

Today, we’re seeing everything come full circle.

My son during high school worked for us until he got into college. Absolutely loved those moments working with him.

My younger daughter also grew up around this business. As a kid, she was always grabbing a squeegee in our shop, trying to clean windows just like the crew.

At home, she wanted to use our water fed pole system every chance our team came by to clean our windows on our home.

Today, at 22 years old, she now runs the marketing side of our company and is also an assistant to our office manager.

From playing with a squeegee to helping drive the growth of the business… that’s something special.

The Team That Makes It All Work

While this business was built by family… what it’s become today is about our people.

We’ve built a team of individuals who genuinely want to be here. People who take pride in their work, support each other, and are part of something bigger than just a job.

Over the years, we’ve had young men and women come through Dutch Touch while working toward their future.

And some stay and grow with us as well as we’ve watched others go on to do some incredible things.

Some now are Doctors, Police officers, CHP, Airline pilots, Union welders, Financial professionals…

And many more exciting things.

And we still stay in touch with many of them today…

Because once you’re part of this team… you’re always part of it.

More Than Just a Job

We understand something a lot of companies miss…

Life comes first.

Many of our team members have families, kids in sports, school commitments, and responsibilities outside of work.

We support that.

Whether it’s flexible scheduling or allowing remote work for our admin when possible, we believe people perform their best when they’re supported at home as well as at work.

That mindset comes from our own experience.

My wife helped build this business while raising our family, and that perspective is built into how we operate today.
